Smart Meter: check data and tariff requirements
By EnergieFinder · Sources checked:
The short answer
A Smart Meter can provide time-specific consumption data. For a dynamic tariff, check that the measurement interval, data transmission and contract match. Installing a device alone does not establish eligibility for a particular product.
Check the device, settings and data access separately
Measurement interval → data transmission → tariff requirements
Check the device, settings and data access separately
Ask your network operator which data is available for your connection and how to view or export it. Ask the supplier about the desired tariff's data requirements. E-Control explains how time-specific consumption is assigned to different tariff prices. Do not confuse the meter number with the metering-point identifier.
A load profile is more than an annual quantity
2,500 kWh a year does not reveal when you use electricity. Time-dependent tariffs require its distribution over time. E-Control's calculator supports load profiles and provides CSV templates. EnergieFinder currently accepts no load-profile uploads. Use the regulator's calculator for this calculation and read its data-format instructions.
Your data sheet for tariff selection
Complete five lines: connection, data period, measurement interval, export options and confirmed product requirements. Add which usage you can shift in time. Mark missing answers as outstanding. A historical load profile shows past consumption; it guarantees neither future market prices nor savings from a dynamic tariff.
Your checklist
Tick off items as you prepare. Your ticks are not saved.

Your next step
Prepare your comparison here. Compare current electricity and gas tariffs in the E-Control tariff calculator.
