For a gas comparison, you need your own gas supply contract, supply location and annual consumption in kWh. First check whether your documents are a gas bill or a heating-cost statement.

The details you need
- Supply address with Austrian postcode and locality.
- Consumption in kWh and billing period from your last annual bill. Preset values are only rough estimates.
- For gas: use billed kWh. Meter readings in m³ are not directly interchangeable comparison values.
- For an actual switch, also have your contract, metering-point identifier and agreed cancellation responsibility ready.
How to check a gas offer
- Use matching annual consumption and periods. Distinguish energy costs from total costs.
- Read unit rates, standing charges, network charges, levies and bonuses separately. Check units and tax basis.
- Compare first-year costs with the bonus against subsequent costs without a one-off bonus.
- Record price guarantees, commitment periods and cancellation separately. An application is not yet a confirmed supply start.
With gas heating, one winter month does not represent twelve identical months. A changed heating system or move may affect future usage.
