Price guarantees, minimum terms and cancellation: three separate questions
By EnergieFinder · Sources checked:
The short answer
A price guarantee promises price stability. A minimum term concerns contract duration; cancellation conditions govern how it ends. These periods can differ. Record them in three separate lines.
Line 1: what is guaranteed?
Find the guaranteed price component and its start and end dates in the price list. Check whether it covers the standing charge and unit rate, and how other costs are treated. E-Control distinguishes price guarantees from minimum terms. Advertising such as “fixed” does not replace the contract’s precise guarantee wording.
Line 2: how long are you committed?
Record the minimum term and the date it starts. Keep the contract confirmation. The price guarantee ending does not automatically end your contract. A short minimum term also does not mean that a one-off discount survives cancellation at any time.
Line 3: how is cancellation confirmed?
Read the notice period, contact method and any discount conditions together. Resolve uncertainties with the supplier in writing. Following a price increase or changed terms, the next steps depend on the actual notice and contract. Consult current Arbeiterkammer guidance before assuming a deadline or right to object.
