Do not confuse kilowatt-hours with cubic metres
10,000 kWh is an energy quantity; a gas meter may display cubic metres. Use billed annual kWh for comparisons, not the meter reading. Conversion depends on billing factors, so a generic factor is unsuitable.

What difference does 1 cent per kWh make?
At 10.000 kWh a year, a difference of 1 cent per kWh changes the consumption-based energy charge by 100,00 € a year, if consumption and all other conditions stay the same.
10.000 kWh × €0.01/kWh = 100,00 €
At 2 cents it would be 200,00 €. This illustrates the unit price, not personal savings. Standing charges, grid fees, taxes, bonuses and price changes are excluded. Compare prices on the same tax basis.
Check before you compare
- Your address: Use your real postcode and later your supply point details. A town name alone does not establish offer availability.
- Correct energy quantity: Use the electricity or gas kWh figure from a full annual bill. For gas, an m³ meter reading is a different measurement.
- Full costs: Include energy, grid charges, taxes and levies. Check standing charges and bonus conditions as well as the unit price.
- Next year: Check contract duration and price adjustment rules. A one-off bonus says little about costs after the first year.
